PCBA Knowledge:
The quality of tin soldering mainly depends on the ability of solder wetting the surface of components, it is solderability of two kinds of metal materials. If the weldability of the parts is poor, it is not possible to weld the qualified solder joint. Solderability refers to the good bonding performance of solder and solder under the action of appropriate temperature and flux. Not all materials can be soldered by tin. Only some metals have good solderability. Generally, copper and its alloys, gold, silver, zinc and nickel have good solderability, aluminium, stainless steel and cast iron have poor solderability. In general, special flux and method are needed for soldering.
In order to achieve a good combination of solder and components, the surface of components must be kept clean. Even for components with good solderability, if there are oxide layer, dust and oil stain on the surface of the parts, clean up before welding. Otherwise it will affect the formation of alloy layer around the components, so that the soldering quality can not be guaranteed.
There are many kinds of flux and their effects are different. Different flux should be selected according to different soldering process and soldering material. Too much flux will increase the side effects of flux residue. Too little flux is used, the effect of flux will be poor. Rosin flux is usually used in soldering electronic products. Rosin flux is non-corrosive, removes oxidation and enhances the fluidity of solder, which helps to wet the solder surface and make the solder joint bright and beautiful.(Pcb Fab And Assembly)
